Me gusta todo, es de una gran exquisited. No sólo en la parte tecnica de los bailarines y su interpretación, sino tambien en el cuidado del vestuario, los decorados y en cada mínimo detalle. Todo está medido para que el conjunto sea armonioso.

I have waited months for this OPUS ARTE release. The centerpiece of this triple bill is Ashton's ENIGMA VARIATIONS, a ballet that's not in the standard repertory, although it certainly deserves to be. Choreographed in 1968 by Sir Frederick, it's subject is Edward Elgar, composer of a fantastic piece of music called, of course, ENIGMA VARIATIONS. The ballet's plot, as it were, is the composer, himself, waiting to hear from his publisher whether this composition has been accepted. Of course, it is accepted and that is the emotional highlight of the ballet. Each variation depicts a friend or relationship of Elgar and the choreography is tied to a specific characteristic of that person. Nobody evoked the English countryside like Ashton (see LA FILLE MALE GARDEE). All of the performances come from the heart and between the achingly beautiful music and the emotion-laden choreography you will shed more than a few tears. The triple bill is from last Fall and shows the Royal Ballet at its best. As far as I know, this is the only DVD of ENIGMA VARIATIONS. Recommended extremely highly !!!!!!!

An excellent triple bill that shows the company at its best. The movements of Concerto are danced crisply with perfect timing by all concerned. Anne Rose O'Sullivan showed what a great dancer she is and has shown enormous potential for the future. A very well danced second movement by Yasmine Naghdi and Ryoichi Hirano that seemed to be a perfect pair.
Other reviewers have pointed out that this is the only recording of Enigma Variations on disc and it is about time too. The piece displays the magic that Ashton could achieve by creating a work with so much imagination.
The third work, Raymonda Act III by Nureyev is brilliantly danced displaying the sharpness of the movements but what is outstanding is the dances by Natalia Osipova and Vadim Muntagirov that are a pleasure to watch over and over for their skill with the movements. But praise must go to everybody concerned for their contribution to a fantastic ballet.
