Here in Raleigh NC metro area we've lost 2 of 5 of our malls including one of the major 3. A 2nd major one is on life support. People like to blame Amazon & e-tailing, but the truth is people are lazy. You can get better deals at local merchants sometimes but you have to patronize them. Amazon gives us variety we would not have & is not an enemy to our malls. The 2 can co-exist. Numerous items, including this film on blu-ray, would not be available at a mall without Amazon. The film gives an intimate revealing look into people running & patronizing the mall. If you watched it on PBS, you saw the edited version that was about half an hour shorter. Like the gentlemen in the film that died, I too have already seen Heaven & am looking forward to it. I miss going to one particular local mall (North Hills) with my parents & sister that was about the size of Jasper mall. It was the 1st casualty. Malls are a healthy part of a community that bring people together & we should all try to preserve them. Hope you enjoy the movie. I know I did.
This documentary is not flashy, but its record of a year or so of doings of the people at a failing mall is quietly comforting as one sees generally decent people doing their best in a mundane piece of early 21st century Americana. Mike the mall manager is inspiring as he fights against the odds to keep the mall going.
this is not a great movie. but it is a favorite movie in our house. its just a bizarre film that makes you wonder if it was all a joke or totally serious. its a ton of fun, and even more fun to subject our friends to it.
I spent $19.00 on this DVD, I would rather watch grass grow then watch it again. I thought it would be the history of the mall, far from it, it is pure garbage, please listen to me DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THE DVD...
