"The Kid" was an attempt at retelling the 'Billy the Kid' legend from a slightly different point of view -- the 'kid' in the title is not actually Billy Bonney but another young man and we tend to see the story through his eyes. This was a relatively low-budget film but its acting was solid and its intentions seemed genuine. The main problem is that it suffers from comparison with some of the great film versions of this tale, the Young Guns films, The Left-Handed Gun with Paul Newman and, of course, one of the great westerns of all time, Sam Peckinpah's "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid." Such comparisons are impossible to avoid -- but beyond that, "The Kid" is not uninteresting. I have seen much worse films that have been made with much greater budgets.
Fun approach to the billy the kid story picking up near the end of his adventures. Showed a more human approach to billy vs Emilio Esteves character in young guns. Fun movie to watch !
