My second concert ever: Accept opening for Iron Maiden in the early 80s. Since the early 80s my favorite Accept album had been Restless & Wild (among their many other great albums). That was up until about 4 hours ago, now I am not so sure. Four hours ago as the first thing I did after watching this 2hr blu-ray was watch it again. This could be my new favorite.

This concert is at once a kick-@-$-$ heavy metal concert and a moving symphony performance. The first 'movement' consists of Accept playing five of their songs. The second 'movement' features members of Accept (and others) playing six pieces of metal infused classical music in front of the symphony orchestra. The third 'movement' combines Accept and the symphony orchestra to perform Accept songs with all the fire, fury, and magnitude of Wacken.

Anyone hesitating due to the absence of Udo needs to get over that. Udo has his own excellent band and Mark Tornillo has taken over with an impressive voice fitting Accept just fine. If anything we now have two great bands supplying with twice the music. Anyone hesitating about the packaging as another reviewer mentioned is simply missing the point. I would buy this again at the same price if it came in a plain brown wrapper. (It is a four-section CD-sized digipak with a 24-page booklet if you must know).

The only aspect that could have been better were the blu-ray bonuses. There are two but they are somewhat short and do not detail the involvement from the orchestra side--I would have liked to hear from their point of view. Surely some of them grew up listening to Accept too.

Throughout the concert you can see that the band members, as well as members of the orchestra, are really enjoying this concert. IMHO the only band that has any chance of topping this (combining a symphony orchestra with metal) is Kreator.
