見事なまでのバッハの演奏は筆舌に尽くしがたいのです。
演奏はもちろん、シフの佇まいを見るだけでも持っている価値があるとは言いすぎでしょうか？

とにかく何度でも視聴できます。バッハが好きな人なら、何度でも見ることでしょう。
中でも、フランス風序曲はとても気に入っています。終曲のechoは名演です。
思わず、自分もピアノでechoをシフと同じテンポで弾いたところ、指がつりそうになりました。
幾分テンポをおとして弾いてもなかなか上手く弾けません。これだけでも、ものにしたいのですが・・・

まず映像が繊細で美しく、音声もすばらしいの一言です。ライブですがノーミスで演奏し、さすがシフです。過去のＣＤ録音と比べると軽快さが薄れ
重厚な演奏となってますが、バッハ弾きとしては間違えなく世界の第一人者です。おすすめのＤＶＤです。

2010年、ライプツィヒでの「バッハ・フェスティヴァル」でことに注目を集めたアンドラーシュ・シフによるバッハの「フランス組曲全曲演奏会」の模様を収録。それにしても、ECMからリリースされたパルティータ集もそうだったが、今回も全6曲立て続けのライヴである。その完成度の高い演奏を引き出した集中力は圧巻の一語に尽きる。

本DVDに収録された楽曲は以下の通り。フランス組曲第1番〜第6番、フランス風序曲、イタリア協奏曲（アンコール）。総演奏時間は134分に及ぶ。またそれらとは別に、シフのインタビューも収録されている。特典映像の収録時間は30分程度。

演奏について書こう。シフは以前デッカにバッハのクラヴィーア曲集を一通り録音していて、中で91年に録音された「フランス組曲」は優美の極みで、シリーズ中でも白眉と思える内容だった。しかし、シフの芸風は変化している。2001年からECMレーベルに2度目のバッハ録音を開始したシフのスタイルは、より気風の大きなものとなった。音楽の呼吸が深く、振幅も大きい。

それで、このフランス組曲を聴くと、優美さを保ちながらも、旧録音と比べて舞曲としてのダイナミズムがより明瞭に打ち出されている。音型のくっきり浮き立つようなピアノ、弾むようなリズム、手首の強い動きから導かれる躍動。いずれにしてもかつてのシフにプラスされた今のシフのスタイルを特徴付けるものたちだ。シフに奏でられたバッハの音楽は、瑞々しい生命力に溢れ、迸る本流となって早瀬を下るような清冽な印象に満ちる。フランス組曲を構成している舞曲たちが、鮮やかな生気を宿す。

シフはインタビューでバッハの音楽には「世俗性」と「信仰心」の両立があることに言及している。それはシフでなくても、他の音楽家やフアンたちも知っていることだと思うけれど、シフがあえてそれに言及したのは、自分の演奏スタイルが、それらを十全に再現していることに確信を持っているからだろう。実際、シフの演奏を聴くと、ノリノリで楽しい音楽でありながら、敬虔で厳かな雰囲気を同時に湛えていると思う。これこそバッハのクラヴィーア音楽を聴く喜びであるに違いない。

フランス風序曲もイタリア協奏曲もリズミックでありながら、どこかバッハの音楽の神性を感じさせてやまない。シフの大家としての芸風をあらためて認識させられる。

それにしてもフランス組曲全曲にフランス風序曲を連続して演奏し、その後、アンコールでイタリア協奏曲である。アンドラーシュ・シフという芸術家の力量をまざまざと見せつけられる素晴らしいコンサートである。

ECM後シフの完成されたバッハを余すところ無く伝えてくれる

2010年『Bachfest Leipzig』、ライプツィヒのプロテスタント改革派教会にて収録。冒頭ピアノへと向かうシフの姿はさながら神父のようである。演奏順序は順番通りで、次に『Overture in the French Style in B minor BWV831』最後に『Italian Concerto in F major BWV971』という内容である。

黒服姿のシフは一礼後、手を組み一瞬何かを祈るかのような仕草をしたあと、弾き始める。プロテスタント改革派教会の自然なエコーの中にシフのピアノが響く。映像はECM後シフの完成されたバッハを余すところ無く伝えてくれる。

『シフ先生』も健在で、DVD盤イギリス組曲では冒頭のチャプタでバッハの楽曲についての授業が始まったが、こちらは別にもう一枚解説用のDVD(ブルー・レイは1枚に内包)が付属してくる。シフはバッハのファンダメンタルを徹底的に研究してこの曲を弾いているのがよく分かる。間違いなく、グールド以後で最もすばらしいバッハだと思う。

そしてこうなると『旧約聖書』の再録音を同じくDVDでやって欲しい。シフのファンは皆、そう思っているだろう。そしてきっとシフはやってくれるだろう。

El gran pìanista, en la plenitud de su carrera interpretativa borda realmente un recital asombroso por su calidad y por las connotaciones digamos personales. Se le nota a Schiff disfrutar interpretando con tanta belleza esa música sublime. Lo hace además desde la sensillez, sin altisonancia, con unos matices de intimidad realmente asombrosos. Schiff domina al gran 'padre' de la gran música y alcanza cotas de excelencia francamente subídisimas.

Es un DVD digno de conseguir por los admiradores de la música e imprescindible para los amantes de Bach. No tiene desperdicio.

This Blu-Ray of the French Suites is a nice companion to the DVD of the English Suites. But unlike his English Suites he plays the 6 French Suites one by one without a break. A remarkable effort. This performance is pure genius and beyond my power to criticize any part of it. If you are a Bach devotee you will not be disappointed with it. It's one of my favorites and I have listened to it(and watched it) many times.

One technical glitch. You can select a band to listen to but when it's finished the disc wont let you return to the main menu. So if I wanted to listen to suite 3 then suite 6 you would have to eject it, reload, then select suite 6. Maybe this is a fault with my LG player. I don't know, but I thought I'd mention it.

Von der Musik bin ich begeistert und in dieser Hinsicht ist die Blu Ray uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen!

Die Verpackung und Menüführung ist allerdings leicht fehlerhaft. Die Blu Ray Disk selbst ist falsch beschriftet: "Overture in the French Style in B minor" ist zweimal hintereinander aufgedruckt und es fehlt ein Hinweis auf das Italienische Konzert. Im Menü der Blu Ray sind die einzelnen Suiten nicht direkt anwählbar, man muss sich durch die Sätze hangeln und an mindestens einer Stelle fehlt die Möglichkeit ins Hauptmenü zurück zu kehren.

Auch Amazon verweigert leider auf Anfrage in der Produktbeschreibung einen Hinweis auf das Italienische Konzert anzubringen und die Produktbilder zu korrigieren, obwohl das ja kein geringer Kaufanreiz sein könnte.

Trotzdem, weil schließlich nur der Inhalt zählt, fünf Punkte.

Andras Schiff is not a naturally demonstrative player. Rather, he is a thoughtful musician who can be relied upon to deliver deeply considered views of the music he is playing - as if playing to himself. This does not necessarily make for riveting viewing but it certainly makes for a satisfyingly musical experience as demonstrated here.

For this reason I was not bothered by the choice of piano rather than an earlier keyboard instrument such as Bach might have envisioned. Nothing is attempted that is out of style in that respect and this belongs to that select group of recordings where doubts concerning the use of a piano are rendered irrelevant in the face of the relevancy of the interpretation that we are offered.

The concert is very long and comes with a substantial encore bonus, the popular and well-known Italian Concerto. It is unlikely that a 'better' performance or recording will be issued soon so this is something of a 'must buy' if the music attracts you. However, I am glad to be watching it in the comfort of my own home - those church pews look awfully hard and uncomfortable!

Good surround sound in DTS 5.1 as well as stereo and sympathetic camera work complete a very desirable package. I would expect this to give considerable satisfaction to future purchasers with the exception of those diametrically opposed to the use of a piano. There is thus every reason to suggest that this disc is worth the full 5 star rating.

Il faut se laisser saisir par l'Allemande qui débute la première de ces six suites qui n'ont de françaises que le nom... C'est à une douce extase, ininterrompue, qu'elle invite le mélomane.
Jouées en public, quasi sans reprendre haleine, par Andras Schiff, ces mélodies, à la fois simples et pénétrantes forment un continuum merveilleux.
La présentation est pourtant austère et les amateurs de jeux de scène en seront pour leurs frais assurément. L'artiste est vêtu à la manière d'un clergyman, et à part les mains dansant avec grâce sur le clavier, le spectacle est inexistant. Il faut même fermer les yeux pour goûter pleinement la saveur indicible de ces mélodies. Pourquoi donc avoir les images me direz-vous ? Sans doute parce qu'elles témoignent de la réalité de ce concert (pourquoi le public s'est-il déplacé, puisqu'il est assis douloureusement sur des bancs de bois, et qu'il n'a même pas le privilège de voir les mains du pianiste ?)
Sans doute aussi parce qu'il y a un supplément d'âme dans une interprétation vivante, dénuée de tout artifice technique. Et pourquoi s'en priver, sachant que rien n'empêche de s'en passer ?
